Richard Finch Obituary: A Life Filled with Love and Joy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard 'Goots' Allan Weygandt on February 23, 2022, at his residence in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on January 15, 1951, in Belleville, Illinois, to Adolph J. and Sylvia K. (Fournie) Kraft.

Goots is survived by his loving wife, Cindy L. (Weems), whom he married on July 21, 1978. He also leaves behind their three children, Adam (Kelly) Weygandt, Jaime Carmody, and Sarah (Chad) Garcia, as well as Courtney Weygandt. His eight grandchildren, Taylor (20), Tori (16), Aaron (14), Clara (13), Sam (11), Kate (9), Peter (8), and Eli (7), will deeply miss their 'Papa Goots,' who loved them with all his heart.

Goots was a devoted father, always making time for his family. He would often arise early to make sack lunches packed in Reynolds wrap, ensuring that his children had everything they needed for the day. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, from family parties with his brothers to nights out with lifelong friends.

Goots was a hardworking individual who spent 41 years at Ameren before retiring in 2014. However, he didn't slow down much after retirement. He and his wife, Cindy, started their lake life together in 2006, where they spent countless hours relaxing, dancing, and enjoying each other's company.

In addition to his love for his family, Goots had a passion for music and dance. He would often sing and dance on the dock with friends, bringing joy and laughter to everyone around him. His weekly appetizer nights at the lake were legendary, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Goots was also a dedicated member of the Army Reserves and attended Cathedral Grade School, Althoff High School, and Benedictine College. He grew up playing baseball at East End Park from dawn until dusk with his three brothers and countless friends in Belleville, Illinois.

Throughout his life, Goots touched the hearts of everyone he met. His kind spirit, generosity, loyalty, and friendship will never be forgotten. As we say goodbye to this incredible man, we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and is now at peace with his loved ones who preceded him in death.
